A Political Science graduate, named Jehu
Kwasu, has explained to the police how he
impersonated the Catholic Bishop of
Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah
and defrauded prominent Nigerians of
millions of naira.
Amongst the Prominent Nigerans defauded by graduate Kwasu is Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church
Bishop David Oyedepo claimed he gave Kwasu(claiming to be Bishop kukah N500,000.
Others defrauded by graduate kwasu includes The Chairman of Honeywell Group, Oba Otudeko, N1m, Admiral
Ndubuisi Kanu, N500,000; businessman,
Alhaji Aminu Dantata, N2m.
They all claimed they gave the money because they believed it was to be used to help the
Internally Displaced Persons.
Explaining how he successfully pulled the fraud of, the suspect told the police this
I also got money from
Gen. Wushishi ....Kwasu confessed!
“I opened a Guaranty Trust Bank account
in Bishop Kukah’s name. I registered a
SIM card in my name, but used Bishop
Kukah’s picture on my True Caller
account, so that when I call, his picture
would appear (on the recipient’s phone.)”
Kwasu is the son of
late Anglican Bishop, James Kwasu,(see image)
The 25-year old explained that he
defrauded his victims by soliciting money
on phone to cater to IDPs in the country.
Graduate Kwasu also told the police that The money he realised was paid into the account he had opened with the bishops name and that he uses an Automated Teller Machine card(ATM) to withdraw from it.”
PUNCH Metro gathered that Kukah was reported to be scam by some people close to him.
Bishop Kukah was said to have petitioned the
police, which asked the bank to place a
“no debit order” on the account.
Graduate Kwasu tried to withdraw from the account, but could not so he had to go into the bank to complain and that was where he was arrested!!
Investigations reveal that Kwasu had earlier been arrested and sentenced to prison in the past for impersonating Bishop Steven Akobe of the Anglican Diocese of Kabba, Kogi State,but was later released on bail.
Kwasu also tries to dupe Senator David Mark, claiming to be Akobe.
“Senator David Mark asked Kwasu (claiming to be Bishop Alone) to come get the money, but Kwasu sent his girlfriend instead.
She was arrested, confessed, led to kwasu's arrest, he was taken to court and sentenced to two months imprisonment or N9,000 fine,”
Reports have it that Kwasu who has two sisters sold their deceased parents’ house in Kaduna for
N10m and lavished the money on girls and a profligate lifestyle.
Such a lifestyle this young man is living...
