Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala Begged me not to Tell Nigerians That The Country Was Broke Was During President Jonathan's Tenure ... Amaechi Reveals

The Nigerian Minister of Transportation, Rotimi
Amaechi, has revealed that a former Minister of the Economy, Dr.Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala, cne to his office when he was the Rivers State Governor to pleaded with him not to tell Nigerians that the country was broke.

Amaechi, said the country had already become under the former President Goodluck Jonathan's Administration.

Amaechi added that the Goodluck's administration
covered up this fact with the excuse that the country was cash-strapped.

Amaechi said this at The Osasu Show On Tuesday.

Amaechi, who was also the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum(NGF) as at that time, explained that the Nigeria went broke due to excessive borrowing from different quarters of the Government.

He also said these

**“If you remember when I was the governor of Rivers State, I said we
were broke. The minister of finance came to my office in Abuja and pleaded with me that I shouldn’t say it again. That if I said it, it would affect Nigeria in term of investment; that investors will run
away. That I shouldn’t say that Niger broke.
I should say we are cash-strapped. That
was what Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala told me.
