The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) and Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) has issued a warning to the Federal Government of Nigeria  after an emergency meeting of the association in Abuja Tuesday.

Narto has threatened to withdraw their services in seven days if outstanding claims owed to them by government and major oil marketers are not paid. They claimed the Federal Government owed them for transporting products to different destinations of the country.

NARTO President Alhaji Kassim Bataiya said. “If by seven days from today all the authorities concerned do not come back to us and do what they are expected to do we will withdraw our services meaning we will park our trucks in our garages and the trucks will not move anywhere.”

This is a serious issue because If the transporters withdraw their services, the consequence is that there will be no movement of petroleum product nationwide in Nigeria.98 per cent of fuel distribution in Nigeria depends on these tanker drivers.
